Sorry coheasion for the aside. I agree that most net throwing obstacles can be overcome. I wouldn't allow that issue to provide a constraint. I also think that the tritoons are awesome. They glide through the water, can be very fast, provide great comfort for both partying and serious fishing and seem to offer great performance for high speed sonar readings. If you could throw a jet drive on one, that would be sick!
Best of luck finding the right boat for you. You have the advantage of previous ownership that no doubt provides valuable information for your next purchase.

Chris- be careful regard the overall height of the toon in relation to your max lift height. With a TTop like the one shown you might not get the water clearance you want for high water level days. That aside...I think a toon would be a great fishingboat...especially in the winter. I always envy those guys sitting in their little plastic huts sipping coffee.

Yup - it seems the older I get, comfort moves higher and higher up the priority list!

Look into a deck boat possibly. Hokie Chad had a center console hurricane deck boat. It's really nice. You can have comfort, fishability, and keep your speed.

Hokie Chad's boat is the ultimate striper lounge. Great throwing platform, plenty of room, somewhat sleek, quick and slightly sexy! Although that last point may be more about the driver. Has anyone seen Wendell the Guide's machine in motion? That thing is a work of art. My heart races when he goes past. His boat looks like a pontoon but is a 23 foot Hurricane deck boat. I will say though that the newer pontoons or tritoons or whatever you call them are very impressive. Labor day I was cruising the death zone just below Halesford Bridge with my family. I was perfectly trimmed and tabbed cruising at 25mph cutting through cross wave action and with minimal bounce feeling proud as I smoothly navigated the waves. All of a sudden a monster pontoon came out of nowhere and quickly passed me doing 40 plus. This thing was riding the waves like they didn't exist. What I'm saying here is that it seems you don't have to compromise speed and a great ride with a pontoon.

Good points on the deck boats and I have looked and considered some of those as well.
Yam - I have seen Wendells deck-boat up close and yes he has that thing tricked out perfectly for what he does.
My main reason for staying away from the deckboats is I want to get away from fiberglass/gelcoat and the cleaning waxing etc. My better half is a bit meticulous when it comes to cleanliness and keeping a fiberglass boat clean while bait fishing is a PITA...especially the non-skid stuff I have.
And Yam - good point about the tri-toons. Boattest magazine tested the model I am looking at and with a 150 Mercury the top speed was 40.1 MPH. Now that was fairly empty of course and weighted down with bait tank etc it won't do 40....but I also plan on bumping the HP up quite a bit as well and if I top out at 37 or so I will still be plenty happy with that.

The guides use the "ballerina toss" and spin the net over the rails. May take some getting used to but totally do-able. They almost look as pretty as Yam when he throws Insani-Tee. My goto net is now a 1 lb/foot 12 footer, 1 inch thick mesh 1" stretch ?

Hey oars I talked to one of those guys last year and he had a standalone ac unit inside. Kept it at a sweet 72 degrees in 88 degree weather. Lol.
