Today was mt first free day of vacation in a while so I yanked my 13 year old from school (shhhh) for an educational day on the water. We put in at day break at Indian Point (I would not suggest this, it was tight), we took out and watched the final sunset from the point. We were casting flukes all day and managed 1 fat white perch, 1 nice smallie, 2 unmentionables and 30 stripers. It was a big day for him. The fish weren't anything to brag about, biggest was 9lb but the number made for a good memorable day on the water. ;D

Bigun, we had an ace in the hole. The man that taught me fluking tricks and spots quite a few years ago took us. He knows the lake (both sides) like no one I've ever fished with. All I had to do was tell him generally where the fish were and he took it from there. He loves kids, everytime we go and one of my boys goes along he always gives them a bag of goodies. Cody came home with a bag that is going to make Santa look like a cheap skate. HA! When my oldest was younger and we would go he would always have us containers with huge slices of his wife's homemade cheesecake, yesterday it was a bag full of Chic-Fil-A sandwiches. Leo does the same bringing them snacks, drinks and such. No wonder these chaps like fishing so much! When the budget gets right I will buy another boat and pay it forward! ;D OH, and I have learned not to out fish Leo or he get's bored and wants to swim!

Ya'll know what bites!!! I was writing his excuse note for school last night when he made me aware that anything but a sick note would be considered unexcused and he would get zero's on everything for the day. I looked in the handbook and according to it he is right.
I wrote the note saying that I took him on an educational trip with me, which it was and told him we would take zero's before we would flat lie to them. I guess the school system now has control of our children and they just lend them to us after hours huh? I did add to the note that if for any reason it was considered unexcused I would like a pjone call and gave them every number I have.........11:32 and no phone calls yet!
Back in the day all that was needed from my parents was a note saying they knew we were absent and we were excused.

Bigjon, "back in your day", the school would call the house and beg us to keep you out of school. There were several times that I heard pop arguing with the teacher over who had to look after you for the day.

Yepper and none of this was due to my own actions but by my older siblings who had gone before me and made a bad reputation for the whole family name!
