I'll be coming down for the weekend; fishing the Gills Creek and lower Blackwater sections mostly. I was hoping to find some recent reporting, but no luck!
I know this is the bass board, but are the stripers still busting alewifes at night?

I was down on the 16th, 17th & 18th. Didn't have time to get out on the boat but caught 3 nice Largemouth of our dock on deep crank baits in the morning between 8 and 10. Used Strike King KVD baby bass color, 15 to 20'. Hope this helps!

I havent been up to the lake in a few weeks now so i couldnt tell you. but you should look in the "Striped Bass Discussion" sections of the board. if there arent any recent post look back last year at this time and match up the water temps. from last year to what they are now. that should give you somewhat of an idea. To my knowledge the night bite along the shoreline has slowed down if not stopped. But then again i have actual been there in a while.

Tough tough TOUGH weekend for me at SML. Fished 4 hours and 3 hours Saturday and Sunday mornings, respectively. Tried about everything I could think of from my kayak. Only got one definite bass bite on a senko; boated a solid 18" fish, but otherwise nothing but green sunfish and a white perch here and there.
Got 2 other small bass on my fly rod from our dock. One of the highlights of the weekend was when a massive grass carp emerged from the shadows under a retaining wall and ate my wooly bugger. It screamed off line for 50 feet before it came unbuttoned. I'm sure I never would have landed it on a 4-weight rod and 5x tippet, but what a rush!
