Hey guys, the irony has struck. Get a bigger boat and bigger bait tank to accomodate for more buds on board. Got a lot of friends that love to hit the linesiders. Plus its nice having 2 guys throw down some cash for gas and parking.
I bought this big, beautiful 40 gallon G&M tank, that houses many, many gizzards and herring for as long as I need. But, the tank is HUGE. It takes up a ton of space in the back of the boat. I tried to set it up front, and it fits up there just fine, but it makes the boat run like complete crap, nose plowing everything. 45 gallons of water and a 50lb. tank add up to 400+ pounds. Ouch!!
Anyways, when we are ready to roll, I sit in captains chair, one bud sits in the passenger seat, and one on the tank. This works great and rides well. (Had to add trim tabs, but now I can have 64 gallons of fuel and a full bait tank with three guys and still plane out at 3500-4000 rpms.) The issue is when we are actually fishing. Fishes PERFECTLY for 2 heads, but add a third and it starts getting tight. I guess I could tell the third guy to fish up front. Especially during downline season. There are 2 rod holders up there, which is plenty. They could also run some big boards up there as the rod holders are very far away from the holders in the back of the boat. You can see in the pic, the tank sets far back, and the third guy sits on the tank while we sit in our chairs. Just trying to figure out a way to make this work better. And I will still be keeping my 40 gallon.
Anyways, I like the brains on this board so any input is appreciate. You can also tell me to shut up and go fishing, and leave the third guy at home.
