Fished Sat and Sun. Saturday fished with Travis and Bo. We did respectable with 8-10 fish in the boat. We did about equal on boards, floats, and downlines. We talked about all going to Claytor Sunday, but said the heck with it and decided to stay at SML. Sunday, Bo brought along to of his pool shooting friends. We fished the same areas we did Sat and hammered them pretty good. Not sure how many we ended up with, but the best part was they were all 9lbs and bigger..no dinks at all. We ended up going through probably 50 shad. It was a good day. Freelined planers paid the bills mainly, but we caught a few on downrods and even jigging!! Fishing in the creeks..front to back. Wish I'd have gotten some peanuts or alewives but we stuck with just the moneymakers. They are so easy, I just can't believe it. I'll tell ya too..we have one of the best striper fisheries anywhere in the country right now..I'd love some chances at 30-40lbers but a day like today really makes you appreciate how lucky we are to have awesome numbers of 10-20lb fish in this lake..it's perfect right now. Water temps are 58-62.
Here's a bunch of pictures. Bo's camera sucks, so I started taking some today after lunch. I could tell old Bo was struggling when he missed getting some pictures of some fish. He never misses a picture!
Try eating at Joe's Pizza with these two! I choked on my food laughing and Travis had to do the heimlich on me!
Jiggin up 14lbers..they loved that!
By the way, sidescan is absolute money in the creeks this fall! It is more than worth it's weight in gold. I can't believe how good it works in shallow water. We can literally ride up a creek and cover bank to bank and see if the striper schools are there or not. It's awesome!
Stripers all over the left side..sorry its blurry but we had like three fish on and I was rushing..haha.
Better shot this morning of fish just to our right..first school we marked scouting..rods were bending shortly after!
Missed an awesome blowup show but got the fight!
