Haven't posted in awhile, I didn't get to fish much last year but plan on doing more this year.
Water temp over those 4 days ranged from 54 - 56.5. All fishing was done around Bull Run, Little Bull Run and Gils Creek. I caught 18 bass over those 4 days with about 6 hours fishing each day. 2 largest were just over 19". Smallest was 13.5" with most fish being between 15 & 17 inches and all were very healthy, good color and none looked like they'd been hit with with the LMB virus or have 100% recovered from it. I think the small was one of the new F1 Tiger Bass although that seems big for just stocking them last spring. The 2 large ones were both filled with eggs and released immediately after measuring. One came on a Pop-R (Hit as soon as the lure hit the water just off a laydown) and one came on a weightless lizard (hit on 2nd tug next to a lone stickup). A chatter bait, a 6" swimbait, and a Hedon chuggin spook also worked. The Lizard caught most. I had no luck with cranks, spinnerbaits, senkos, creature baits or jigs. Even when the sun was out most fish came just off cover, nothing was buried in brush piles, lay downs, or docks and I didn't see any beds but the water was mostly stained. Also, all the fish were in 5' or less water. I didn't even mark anything deeper than that. Saw lots of striper near the surface... Structure didn't seem to matter, as long as the water was shallow and there was some cover, there seemed to be fish around it. I couldn't find a real good pattern and only once did I find 2 fish around the same piece of cover so I just junk fished.

I pulled this from the moseyoak.com article ghostcomanche linked above;
"Spencer Ross, a member of the 125-acre Bear Lake Fishing Club in Washington County, Ala., has the following comments about Tiger Bass, “Bear Lake was stocked by American Sport Fish with Tiger Bass in June of 2004. Since then, I have personally caught more than 50 bass that have weighed 10 pounds or more from Bear Lake. In the early spring of 2011, I caught one of several bass that weighed more than 14 pounds. Of all the bass I have caught in Bear Lake, the most impressive growth was that of the 3.5-pound bass I caught only seven months after it was stocked as a 2-inch fingerling!”
So I guess it's pretty likely those F1's are 13 inches or more by now. Impressive!!! I'm coming up again for a few days next week and will report again then...
