Set out around 6am Saturday with a steady wind and spitting rain greating me at the ramp. Threw a buzzbait around some shallow timber before daylight and picked up 2 small fish. After it got light I went to work methodically picking apart shallow laydowns with a texas rigged worm. I picked up 6 more bass between 1 and 2.5 pounds over 3 hours then headed off to work.
Sunday 4/3 we launched into hail force winds about 8am. After paddling my kayak about 2 miles to a fairly protected spot I was rewarded with a stout 3lber on my 3rd cast. Figured my pattern from the previous day was going to be good again but was sorely mistaken. Fished for 6 more hours without another fish. My buddy did pick up a 4lber shallow but that was it for us. Other guys in our group reported a more consistent pattern on behind and under docks shallow with various soft plastics.

Excellent! Not sure how you handled a kayak and was able to fish with the wind. That has talent written all over it. I get frustrated with the trolling motor and wind.
Hope to see you down there some time.
Was told that the bass are eating up spinner baits at lake Gaston. Sounds like, with the two you caught on buzz baits, the spinner bite is almost upon us.

Its not easy dealing with strong winds, we have anchors but often they are more trouble than theyre worth. Its a practiced guessing game as to where to go to get away from it best you can. The bite has been up and down for me but seems to be steadily improving, and the night bite is fast approaching so Im excited
