I guess I should have mentioned that the pass seat is removable, and slides on and of then locks into place, literally takes 5 seconds to take off and put back on. The tank also has a drain on the bottom that I could pull and let drain out and bilge it from the boat when done fishing for the day...or I could get a cheapo pump and pump water in and out that way. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it would be a permanent fixture in the boat really, but would stay as long as the family didn't want to go on a joy ride, which seems not to happen so much. My 2 boys are 5 & 8 and love the fishing more than the riding!!!! Bigun...I appreciate your advice! I believe I will take yours and yam's both and test it out while fishing! Problem is the testing portion is going to have to come on the day/night before next weekends tournament!!! Keep y'all updated on the battery location as well!

Hmmmm... I rarely ever reply to posts when someone is seeking opinions on equipment..... everyone is different ( there is only one yam) (thank God) and you'll get many differing thoughts on what is best or the best way. Striper fishing is not nearly as hard as it may seem from all the different ideas as what's the "best way" and mostly ends up more confusing to whomever is seeking advice. The only advice I would ever give is just keep it as simple as you can and you will be a lot happier with less crap to worry about and catch just as many or more fish ...... As to the best place to put your bait tank..... only thing I would say "is on your boat". If I passed you on the lake and you boat was listing a few degrees to one side, the only think I would think is, there goes a dedicated striper fisherman with a tank full of bait.... do what is the most comfortable for you..... don't give a second thought about what other folks think or how someone else is doing it. Oh, we all have a few of those extra healthy fishing buddies that ride around it the boat with a bag of oreo cookies (double stuff) on their lap. It's about time you chimed in. I have been missing you! I do think that it is prudent to test out something before making any permanent changes to the boat. Suggesting prudence is prudent. Ha!!!! I once new a redhead named Prudence. She surely had a bait tank that would hold a lot of bait..... didn't work out.

Ha. I wonder if her parents were Beatles fans? I prefer a smaller bait tank in this context. Small tank for small bait.

I would not drain into the bilge and then pump out. I don't think you would want the saltwater in your bilge.

I would not drain into the bilge and then pump out. I don't think you would want the saltwater in your bilge. I'd pump most of the saltwater/slim water out with a separate pump/hose, then add some water with a cup or so of baking soda and then drain that into your bilge. 1. the smell if it doesn't all get washed out is baddddddd. 2. the saltwater/slim crap will stick to fiberglass and bilge pumps and float switches. Just some advice from experience.

I didn't even think about that, with the slime, and all sticking. I'm getting this week sometime a cheapo bilge pump and hose to pump water in, and out of tank.

Yeah that stuff adheres to everything in the bilge and if allowed to stay a while it turns into a black greasy gooey mess. Bilge cleaner almost 50% to water was the only thing that cleaned mine up.
