I been looking at a lowrance HDS 9 gen 3, and ran across this deal.



I was wondering if anyone had any comments about the structure scan 3 d. Would it be worth it on SML? And do you guys think the price is fair and is this the correct transducer?

StructureScan 3D looks awesome and the on-water testing I've seen videos of in fresh & salt look impressive.... is it worth it on SML? I think it will help a lot of folks understand what they are actually seeing in regular side-scan - and combines down/sidescan in a more understandable view.

The StructureScan 3D is a separate module and xducer so if it is bundled it would have the right SS xducer. You still need the 83/200 or CHIRP xducer - sounds like that comes with the 83/200 skimmer xducer - see the other recent thread for discussion on using this xducer with CHIRP

As to fair price - the SS 3D is a $999 or so module alone. That means the HDS9 part is $1899 - I think thats a few hundred under the MSRP.

Which vendor is that? A few I worry about...... also, give Ben McCall at SML Marine Electronics and/or Dewayne at CQ a call and see how close they can get - might be surprised and can deal locally.

Thanks for the info Mike. It is from the lowrance online store. If I didn't read it wrong it also has a $300.00 mail in rebate.

Hummmmm - got a link? I don't think there is an official Lowrance online store - there are some sites that try to pose as such as those worry me....

Yep - found what you're looking at. That is NOT an official Lawrence site. It is an online place called "Factory Outlet Stores" that have all sorts of brands. My main concern is if there are any issues with Lowrance honoring the warranty - at one point they only did from authorized dealers supposedly. If you register the unit ASAP then it may remove that concern.... I'd check that part out.... Just know you're not dealing with Lawrence direct on this..... the rebate is via Lowrance - that would also be something to check to ensure Lowrance would honor it if not thorough an authorized site.... that "Deal" might not be as great of one once done...

DO IT,DO IT,DO IT!!!!HAHA I looked at that place when I was in the market,I think mikes right they have nothing to do with lowrance.com check out Boe marine its where I ended up buying,but if you are around the lake nothing wrong with giving them a shot at your biz.you might look at team old school on youtube really killer demo of the 3d structure scan,very cool. good luck,JUST DO IT,DO IT!!!
