Hey fd,check out cabelas bargan cave or the like on bass pro,at the end of the year lots of reduced prices and you may get a better unit for your money. If I were you I would look for a straight sonar unit as it will do what you need once you learn to read it(turn off fishy symbols rule #1).I see an lowrance elete 7 sonar with with down scan and mapping for $399 at cabelas right now.I haven't owned a humming bird since a super 60 flasher but they have come a long way, theres a couple hummingbirds that are small screen basic sonar for just over $200 about 50 percent off. Check out boe marine and see what they have, bought a unit from them this summer good prices, fast shipping.get you a swivel mount to be able to turn it to see from where your at in the boat.Good luck to ya.

I would think you could get one from a member real cheap. Someone who has upgraded and has an older unit just sitting around?
