I really like using in-line circle hooks but the Lazor circle hooks I have been using break easily. I bought a small pack of Gamakatsu hooks and tried them and they break easily too! I have ordered some Mustad Perfect Circle hooks to try. Anyone using a circle hook that they really like? Thanks

I have broken the Gamakatsu's and Lasers trying to free them from trees and with pliers trying to get out of a catfish. I have had a broken Gamakatsu fighting a fish using 15 lb test. The ones I get are made of some sort of alloy. I have some J hooks that I get from a friend that wont break if you bend them but he says you cant get them in a circle hook. Thanks for the response!

I've broken quite a few 1/0 and smaller Gamakatsu circles. They're not the strongest.

I was using 3/0 Gamakatsu circle hooks yesterday pulling freelines and split shots. Got a 10 to 12lb fish on that my wife's brother-in-law was fighting. Fish fought extremely hard and he finally got it ready to net and he had it sliding along the surface when it made a flop and was gone. The hook broke right in the bend. I had ordered some Owner circle hooks but haven't used them yet but seem the be made of the same sort of alloy as the Gamakatsus'. From previous post's no one slse seems to be having a problem with the hooks. I would really like to find some circle hooks made from the same material as whats available in the Kahle hooks.

I have no idea what's going on with your hooks, unless they're a bit old and rusted--which I doubt, those should go to the metal bin. I've used Gamakutsa hooks as well as Owners for years and have never had a break. They make a thin wire hook for LM bass fishing and then a standard hook for bait. Maybe the wrong type? I've hooked and landed many citations(by weight) with 2/0 and 3/0 hooks with not even a bend. I know it's perplexing but I don't think a knot can change the impact on a hook, line size? I've been using a variant of he Kite Fisher snell knot for years. But I can't believe that makes any difference other than more hookups. I've used 50lb braid with 30lb leaders in the past with never any hook problems. Now I'm using 20lb main line mono, and 12-15lb leader. Are you buying your hooks from a place that maybe is selling imperfections or something?
