Nice musky! I would love to see that on video..... Mward trying to net that thing. So this is what Gator looks like? Or maybe this is bigun? Where's the famous hat? Gator, you look more like a GQ model than a bull rider. Great to see opposing rivers uniting! Fish on my friends. These days don't last long at all. Everything was calm as can be until we realized what it was. Then the chaos started. Organized chaos and one hell of a net man. Thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest for hours afterwards. A day I'll never forget. Figured I would leave the cowboy hat in the truck and roll incognito.

If you're where I think you were, I've caught two 20lb+ muskies near there and had one eat a planer board dang near where you're sitting - they stay in the same areas year after year. I've always said we need to chunk some suckers in those holes but too obsessed with stripers I guess....maybe next year for the Optimist!

I was exchanging some e-mail with Dan Wilson, our DGIF Biologist today on some other topics and mentioned the "surprise musky" and was asking if this would have been an old left-over one from previous stockings, or if they naturally reproduced, etc.
His response...
I did not realized they were stocked in any number or frequency.... learn something new every day..... Still a precious and rare creature on SML - one to be respected!

Nice to know there are still a few around the lake. Glad you were able to land it I guess you just flossed her teeth with that leader. Where was Yam for the underwater video of this.

Guess there is a reason I use 25 lb leader this time of year Not that it would matter with those teeth - we just got dang lucky. Gator did a good job controlling the fish even with two or three attempts to net it - after each failed attempt I just knew it was going to break off.... That leader was done for though - frayed up good.....

Oh - and I figured the Sea Hunt had been nice enough to me over the last couple of weekends and certainly on Saturday that I treated her to a bath on Sunday... just hope I didn't wash the good luck off..... Live-bait fishing is dirty business...... Before After

Twice I had spoons cut off late Aug. and Sept. before last within 1/2 mile of each other. The rod would load up and before I could grab it the rod would fly back . When I would bring the line in the 20 lb. leader looked like it was cut on one and the other pinched with a small V in it. I often wonder if it was musky. I have a good friend that caught a tiger musky from the New River, it was 46 inches and 25 lbs. Do you guys know if the ones in SML are tiger or pure musky? Gators fish looked to be regular by the pic.
Boat looks nice mward....you can't wash your type luck off.

Boat looks nice mward....you can't wash your type luck off. Maybe this goes into the superstitions thread - but I've found that most of the time I give the boat a good cleaning, that I'll skunk on the next trip.....

Mward, The Sea Hunt cleaned up really well! Beyond good old elbow grease is there a specific deck cleaner you prefer? I've been using Simple Green with okay results but nothing like I see in your picture.

I usually use Clorox Cleanup - and had a few quirts left but then switched to Starbrite Non Skid Deck Cleaner with PTEF. Most of the dirt was silty grime thus washed off fairly easy but it still took some elbow grease.

I will second the Clorox for stains and the starbrite deck cleaner. The starbrite hull cleaner does what I need it to do without scorching my trailer.

One of the best cleaners is Stain Solver. This product is offered only by Ask The Builder. Great for cleaning decks, bath rooms, and anything with stubborn stains. Stain Solver
