Any recommendations for a good light tackle guide on the lake? Would love to improve my skills, but don't want to get on a boat and watch planer boards all day. Happy to catch less fish (hell it would be a fantastic day to catch one fish!) in order to learn how to properly fish light tackle and/or fly fish.
Thanks!

Dale Wilson, From what I understand does not use live bait. Probably the 1st guide on the lake, a lot of years experience.

Had a guy who claimed to be a "guide" on the lake ask me to make him a couple of special rods for him but never followed through with it. He wanted a fly setup but not on a typical fly rod. He wanted a 7'-8' rod, 1 peice, with a good back bone and a stiffer tip than a fly rod typically has. He was going to use it to vertically jig weighted fly's. I though it would be a fun way to fish. Never tried it myself. Might have to some day.

Oh forgot to mention, there are guys who keep a fly rod riged and ready to go in casd they come across breaking fish.

that sounds like a different use of a fly rod! I am more likely to put a sink tip on and strip some clouser or decievers, or maybe a floating line and topwater bug through some breaking fish....
but i still have to land my first striper, and i bet there is an easier way than on a fly rod...
thanks for the captain dale recommendation. i will look him up. from what i read on hear, there seem to be some d-bag guides out there, and i sure want to avoid them. so, if there are guys to stay away from, would love to know that as well!

TheShadtaxi does artificial trips like December through February. I'd definitely recommend a trip with him in mid to late December.

I'll second Todd in the winter for casting and jigging. First guide I ever fished with at SML was Dale Wilson - good guy and would also recommend him for artificial.
