Hey bud, I know some of us paint things with to broad of a paint brush sometimes...I gotta try and remember that.... sorry, our thoughts are directed at the dis-respectful, accident waiting to happen wake boaters.... and you and I and everyone else knows it's not just the wake boaters... there are some of those in the striper fishing end of the lake also.... and gator, thanks for the pm....

We all know that most of us are more bark than bite when it comes to tossing a plug....... unfortunately we don't get a chance to speak to the offenders very easily while hanging on for dear life to not be thrown out of the boat. I'll admit I was cranky that day too...... after all - my dreams this weekend had Bigun and not Scarlett in them...... that's enough to make anyone cranky for a long, long time It may be something that should be taken up with the Smith Mountain Lake Association and/or the Smith Mountain Boaters Association..... 100' no-wakes would shut down many creeks/coves, and many don't observe the current 50' buffer as it is.....

Hey lund I have seen some striper boats do some pretty stupid things not just piling on to wake boats. All boats are dangerous with an idiot at the wheel.

Most of those wake boats are V drives, right? Need some aquatic vegetation to foul their props!

I live in grimes and have seen ski boats give no respect for anything that also includes jet skies the problem is no respect and most of them just don't care

So it seems we are all on the same page. Have fun, enjoy the lake but be considerate of others. Would a fisherman cast a lure in front of a wakeboarder or jet-ski, NO! Dangerous could hurt someone. Why then do some people think it's ok to do the unsafe and inconsiderate things they do? Sometimes I just shake my head and there are times when I wish my boat was equipped with RPG's and Torpedos

There's a lot if DAs out there. 3 weeks ago my 18yr old daughter was hit by a drunk driver (twice the legal limit) doing 94 MPH in 45 MPH zone at 11:30pm. She is very lucky to be alive and very grateful he didn't hit drivers side door, one foot to the rear. Could have been a different out come. You just can't fix Stupid!! She is recovering quickly from her two broken shoulders, but the scares will last forever.

Sorry to hear about your daughter smlmike and hope she heals up without any long term problems. I have been rear ended twice and nothing was ever done with extreme whip lash in one case causing me to miss a week of work. I now do back exercises to relieve the pain. The second time involved a cellphone driver which I saw coming and tried to get out of the way. Lucky, my tailgate being down helped absorb some of the impact. I always continuously look behind me. About ten or so years ago, some Mexicans were returning to get some more beer near Aldie. They didn't apply the brakes soon enough and hit the building which was made of cinder blocks. The wall collapsed and they threw it in reverse and hightailed it. Unfortunately, the front license plate fell off in the rubble and they were caught in no time.

Unreal smmike! From those pics your girl is very lucky to be alive. I hope they drop the hammer on that driver. Personally I believe they need to be harder on DUI than they are now. Most the time they are back out there in no time doing it again putting more innocent lives in danger. Some people you just can't reach

We believe that his license was revoked at the time of the crash. Because of multiple DUIs. But yet he hadn't been declared a habitual offender. What does it take?
