I been thinking about a couple of new reels lately. While looking around to see if anything was new on the market. I saw that Okuma added a low pro cold water reel to the line up in 2014. They look pretty good to me . So I was wondering if anyone has one and could give input. The part number is CW 354 D at bass pro shop.

Looks real nice. I wonder what makes them "cold" water reels. I sure know that my abu garcia 7000's like to stay in the cab on winter days on the trip to the lake. They get a little finnicky in the cold.........

I have several and they perform well. Got mine for around $100 at Sportman's Warehouse.

They probably replaced the oils and grease with a dry lube like graphite for cold weather operation. You could do the same for your reels.

Who's got the Okuma Cold Water reels and have put them through the paces? Any feedback?

We had two and had good luck out of them. The LC on them you need to get a good engage to get them to work but some of my tekatos do the same thing. I would say the only negative would be the drag does not seem as linear as some. When you wanted to loosen the drag worked best if you loosened more then tightened it back down. Maybe as some have mentioned they are dry lubed and a little Cal's grease could cure that problem. Not the same model you are talking about but my experience with the series.

I think Arch "had" an Okuma. And man could that thing turn a 5 minute fight into a 30 minute epic battle. Not to mention, that smooth screaming sound when he casted it made you jump in your skin.

This is a two year old tread. I ended up going with Shimano Tekota 500 reels and never looked back. At the time I was just thinking of getting into bait fishing and needed some input.

That thing sounded like the hole shot at a drag strip when he casted it. I believe the innards are made by ford..haha. Epic battle it was!
