I have the lake insight card that comes with lowrance HDI. Can anybody point me to a map legend for this?
I cannot seem to find one online and I have no idea what most of the symbols mean.

Can you post some pics of the symbols in question?

It will be several weeks before I have access again. The one I see the most is red and looks like two legs of triangle.
Another one green and kind of looks like a stick drawing of a table if I remember correctly.

I always remember it as red right returning.

The red is submerged timber, the green is grass beds. Most of those grass beds no longer exist.

They are not buoy markers. I know what a buoy marker is and coincidentally I can look at them and correlate them to the chart. Kinda like the shore or the water. I've been on sml since I was in diapers - id say I'm ok without a coast guard course.
I think JohnR has it nailed but it was throwing me because often it shows the red marks going all the way to the shore. But to my knowledge when the lake was flooded the cut everything less than 20 ft down all the way around the lake.

Never heard that one about cutting all below 20. What are you referring too? That boat safety course is required in va. Although the requirements keep changing re; age. No idea what the latest is, I just took the course to see if any changes were added since I got my license.

I have my boating license.
Where I read it was in the map that shows the lake before it was flooded. In there it says that everything between the shore and a depth (to be) of 20 foot was cut down. Therefor the timber or little red triangle could not go all the way to the shore.

Or they should not on the map I should have said.

Two ideas occurred to me. One is submerged rocks, but wouldn't that be indicated like a shoal? The other is trees that have fallen into the lake from shore erosion in since the pond was filled. But I sort of doubt anyone is on top of things sufficiently to go around marking those. Or are they "timbers" submerged by fishermen to hold fish?
