With planer board season coming. What planer boards do you guys recommend?
I been using waterbugz but only got one season out of my last set. Last week on the water when I stopped to fight fish, they sank on me with 1/2oz weight! Looking for an upgrade at an affordable price!

Outcast boards are my favorites. I have a few offshore planer boards that hardly ever get used since I got the outcast.

Does anybody use yellowbirds! They any count?
Striper addiction boards? I see that these are reversible, and cheap! Pretty much same cost as waterbugz!
Outcast? Local guy, guess most of you use his boards as they are in local shops on sml.
Waterbugz ? Had my feel of these, they work, don't get me wrong! Just looking for something a little better!
Thanks for any info!

Outcast or Redneck are about the best for the lake. All others will only disappoint over time.
Cap Quarters has Redneck Planers
Franklin Outdoors has Outcast

Outcast are the best I've used. They float and pull better than most. Not sure if Toby still makes them.

Bentrod is correct. Outcast are the best and pull the best. Don't even waste your money on the others. I had two pair of the yellowbirds when I bought a set of Toby's outcast boards. After using them I tossed the yellowbirds straight in the trash and called Toby and ordered two more pair of his.

Anything on the striper addiction boards? More my price range! These are 35$ on the striper addiction site. They can also be switched sides of the boat.
The outcast page has the boards 25$ each, thats 50$ a set! That's very pricey! Are they any cheaper in the shop?
What I'm saying is if I get the three sets I need. Outcast going to cost as much as I have in my boat(150$) striper addiction 100$. 50$ is a lot for me that's three more days I can make it to the lake and use um!

The StriperAddiction boards look like the Redneck planer boards Striper Addiction Foam on both sides - which lets them be reversed.... The Outcast on the other hand only have foam on one side - and the thicker foam - not sure - maybe this plays into how they perform?

Of the 4-5 different boards I've used, Striper Addiction would probably come in second to the Outcast, so they are not a bad choice. I sold mine to buy all Outcast though. Nothing pulls like an Outcast that I've used. It was worth the extra money to me although I got one set free and another on sale which helped. Striper Addiction does use the very hard foam that will last like the Outcasts have as well. The difference in price is that Outcast uses an Offshore release clip and Striper Addiction uses a homemade alligator clip.
Anybody know if Toby even makes the Outcast still? May be a moot point.

The release is the problem! Thanks bentrod! That looks like a fairly easy change to have boards run both sides. Think I'm going with the addictions since I can afford them. Might work my way up to the outcast if he still makes them. Try to have a set of outcast by the end of fall!
Now yalls pigtails that you change to. Sure you special order them. Where from?
Thanks to all of you guys that replied!

Yes, Toby is still making them. He has a lot going on, but he is still making them and selling them. I know this for a fact. Might take a while to get them, but it is worth it in the long run.
