If its a home brew venturi it is actually probably getting water into it from the pump. The line coming in for the air has to enter at the correct angle or water gets pushed into by the pump instead of air getting ducked down the line.

Will take some pics of the venturi tomorrow. Its a homemade setup. If the pump, and lines are just under the surface of the water, and I use a short 6" piece of tubing, it blows air like crazy. It doesn't push any water out. But when I submerge the irrigation fitting that the air line runs through, no more air.

www.danncollc.com/venturi.htmThey also have a bulk-head version that could make for a nice option if you want to drill a hole in the tanmk.......

Here's a pic of the venturi. After some tweaking today, its blowing air.

I think the problem is that it's above the water level... That means that if the pump can't keep the pipe full, you may not get a venturi effect, you may not get any constriction and therefore no pressure differential. Or I could be wrong

Brian, When its below the water level, I can't get any air. I'm hoping with a 750 gph pump, that there's plenty of water/ pressure differential.

I bet you need more of a constriction, or perhaps a shorter constricted section... In any case, sounds like it's working now.

Is it the only thing on that pump? If so there is no need to have so much pipe. Mine is a single 90 elbow directly on the pump and that is it. The line looks a little big on that air line but might just be the picture. The airline I am using is just air line for an aquarium air stone. And that line goes to a brass double ended bard fitting that is the correct size for the air line. This is then fitted into the top of the 90 degree elbow. I had to play around with the angle to get it to work properly.

It was just a small piece of pipe, but with it below water, it wouldn't do anything, so I added enough pipe to get it above the water level of the tank. Bubbling pretty well now. Also using it to circulate the tank.

An update...since the boats been in the shop, I haven't fished since several weeks ago. The water got crystal clear, but in the past week, its has turned terribly brown. Looks like algae growing on everything. Thoughts? Put some algae killer in it? Start over with clean water?

I don't worry about algae in my bait tank. I assume it's an oxygen producing plant. My bait always seems healthy when it's growing.

My only problem is that I can't see the bait in the tank to catch them! It's that bad.

What type of bio material do you have? It may need to be backwashed out. When my water turns crappy after a load, I'll backwash the filter and my water will get clear again within 24hrs. I haven't changed my water in months now.

Its pea gravel, over a few larger 57s with the filter material over top of it. I've got just a small amount of bait in it. Water doesn't look like it did when I put a bunch of bait in it,looks like brownish algae. But I may be wrong...

I would clean the pea gravel really good and wait a couple days. Your tank is probably cycling too. I wouldn't mess with it too much, but you could do a 25-50% water change.
