I just went back and looked at my wiring diagrams that I did when rewiring and I actually used 1 ga wires from my battery to the switch - but I have a F250 outboard, and I put my house battery in the console - and had a longer run, so I think I upsized - if you use 2 awg with the 115 and your smaller overall loads you should be good.

Finished product! Should allow us to start with cranking battery, then we can switch to the house battery for fishing or hanging out in a cove. But also charging the batteries individually as needed. Always having a fresh battery. Attachments:

Make sure you don't switch batteries with the motor running - or at least not through the "off" position - check your docs - not sure it's good to change it at all when it's running.

Yeah you can switch between batteries with the motor on but don't switch it to off..you'll blow a fuse in the motor or perhaps worse. I did that by accident in a tournament one time when we had a dead battery and made a bad day worse. Luckily I found the fuse and there was a spare with it so we were ok. I ordered a few extra spares online to replace the one I used in case it happens again.

Thanks guys! Yeah probably only would switch to another position only if is still fishing or anchored somewhere swimming. The off position for me will be when it's not in use for long periods.
