I think I remember seeing a news report about a new boat ramp being built around the Highway 122 bridge on the Franklin Co. side. Does anyone know about this, or did a dream it? SML could sure use a few more boat launches.

smlfishingforums.proboards.com/thread/1796/new-ramp-statusI was at the boat show and talked to the people with the Coast Guard Aux. and the Game Dept. which had tables beside each other...they both said that nothing had been done and did not know when or if it would be built...if construction has not started, I doubt it will be done this spring

Will be in the cove past the USCGAUX station come in off 122 on 666 Merriman way and take the second left on to Oldfield and then the first right Oak something, will be at the end of the road there. Thinking they will start in the spring and be ready for fall was what I heard to start with. Its part of the deal APCO made to keep the lake.

Was down today at the USCGAUX station for a meeting, so far looks like nothing has been done on the new ramp. No trees cut for a road so far. Just thought I would let people know.

Funny - I was in the area today and drove down to see if I could see where it was..... just a piece of plywood nailed to a tree saying "SML Public Ramp" and one across the road saying "SML Ramp Parking". It did look like there were some survey flags down in the woods......

We put the sign up to stop people from coming down into the station. Guess they will get started sometime.

Was down to the station yesterday, looks like they have cut all the pine trees off the property and made a road into it. So at least they are working on it I was told fall opening.

They had a bunch of logging equipment up next to the road and had put in a bunch of large stone to get the wood out looked like most of it was gone up at the top don't know how far they got down towards the water. See one for sale sign up on the road in. sure hope they repave the road in, it's in right bad shape now.

Looks a lot different than a couple of weeks ago, how is it looking down on the water end, can you see where the ramp will be?

Part of the license agreement for APCO I think they have to put in a couple of them. Very limited access as far as day use ramps on the lake. Above Hales Ford there are only three ramps, at the bridge you have the state ramp, then the state park, and just a few on Blackwater. Parkway and Mitchels down towards the dam, and thats about it.
