Nice shot! These are some humminbird bait shots. Ford vs. Chevy, but gives you an idea. These shots were taken from december-january on lake anna, so are mostly threadfin shad and herring. This one has obvious bait balls, and on 2d you can see an angry striper feeding. Obvious bait ball in left water column. RIDICULOUS trail of bait. This is down by the hot water inlet. These threadfin were hanging on for dear life at 38 degrees. Netted plenty of these guys. So, to visit the last one we can see a few things. Obviously there is bait in the water column on both sides (right side circled in yellow.) In the water column things are much easier to see due to contrast against open water vs. the bottom. When you start getting more experience you will start to see things farther out to the sides (highlighted in pink). Doesnt stand out as much, but you can bet your toes that if I were to see this again, I'd throw my net out to the left, and if I were fishing I'd be fishing out to the right. (There are nice shadows of what may be large predatory fish.
