Along with gizzards, and some other assorted odds/ends, we caught this feller in the cast net the other night.

yeah, it was a real pain in the backside trying to get the shad out because the cat had the net all tangled up

this time of the year, you'll be surprised how many flats are hanging under lights. I had one several years ago. now this was during the day time in about 6ft of water. Estimated flathead in the 30's get on the underside of a nearly new 10ft cracker. Only flathead i seen jump out of the water. He destroyed the net

I had several nets destoried last year by flatheads. Luckily, I didn't have an expensive net, but it was still expensive enough. The largest one that I caught weighed 22 lbs. Haven't been fishing enough this year to catch anything since March

Carp are about the only thing I don't like to see coming up....front dorsal fins are barbed and can make a helluva mess in the net's mesh.

Id rather have a carp in my cast net, than over 100 2-5" baby catfish gilled and finned into the mesh. I know steviejayvaughan knows about this one........ Big cats do the "death roll" when they are being caught. That is a mess for sure.

I was on the James..I've caught several flatheads over 20lbs before and 1 striper over 20lbs in the net. The baby catfish are by far the worst. I'd take 10 gar over them.
