Skiff. Right spot at the right time! It can be done! Great day of catching! Won't any fishing involved I'm sure! Come off the horseshoe any time you'd like!

Some days you go fishing, some days you go catching, when you go out you never know which one it will be.

Like someone said. Feast or famine. I remember the days in June when there were so many fish in the cove and trying to spawn, the water turned white and they would hit the side of the boat enough to give it a good jolt. (I'm telling my age). It is nice to here someone is having some luck while I have a ball and chain here at the office. Hoping to get out on the water this weekend.

I'm not doubting you either skiff, but dang!!!..... 4 citations in one day. I know some of the most knowledgable striper fishermen on the lake who prolly fish 300 days out of the year and I can't recall when the last time any of them (or anyone else) has caught 4 citations in one day. Good for you!!!!! Just reminded me one time years ago when I was eating at campers paradise, a guy told me he caught a 70lb. flathead cat under the railroad tressel up hardy way. Told him that was nothing, one time I was fishing under the tressel and snagged something on one of my lines. Told him it was an old train lantern that had a date of 1953 stamped on it.....and.....it was still on. He gave me "that look" and I said tell ya what, knock 40lbs off the flathead and I'll turn the lantern off.

I think a great deal of fish pics posted on here are a bit "suspect" as well. I look at the pics guys are pushing into the camera and thinking "either that fish is much smaller then it looked initially or that guy has fingers bigger then my wrists?" LOL I have a lot of guys fish with me that always over estimate the weight of their fish. The length to weight scale posted somewhere on this sight if fairly accurate, but I've caught 35-38 inch fish that didn't weight near 20 pounds. Depends on time of year with these guys. I'm making no insinuations about lies or not-the White House has supplied enough lies to all of us to last the next 20 years! Cheers, John

The length charts are no where near accurate on SML most of the year..springtime is the only time they get close. I've only caught one fish ever that was 20+ and under 36". Most 37" fish aren't 20lbs unless its spring. We got a 38" the other day that was barely 18lbs. I have accurate on the money scales too..which sucks sometimes but at least I know it's right. I've started going more off length than weight bc our fish are so lean..we'll never have 40+lbers again unless they're plum full of roe or something changes. I haven't personally caught a 20+ in two years and I have over a 100 35-38" in that period (around 50 this year)..do the math and look at the data Dan has and you can see we're not building SML back up anymore, we're actually in a decline since 2010.
As far as skiff's report, I don't doubt he caught fish and probably some nice ones, but 4 low 20s and rest low teens when the fish are super skinny is just not happening on downrod peanuts right now. I don't think he's lying, just has bad scales or guessing a little high. And that's nothing against Skiff. I appreciate his reports and input.

I don't have any bogas so I was guessing the weight on the 37 inch scale was a 20 pound fish....I know the fish we been catching has had some really fat bellys on them...cant find any bogas scales local so I guess ill buy the rapalas and see if im a fool for guessing the weight way wrong...thanks guys

Who cares the weight of a fish really. The vast majority of citations are based on length now anyways. A big fish is a awesome catch and a small fish is still a fish fun to catch. Just enjoy the sport, take some pictures for the memories and keep at it.

your right shadslinger....just get out there and enjoy the day and it doesn't matter to me what I catch aslong as I am out there with bait in the water...I don't go out there just to target big fish whatever size is in the school I get lucky and find that's what size I catch...like you say take a picture for memory...thanks guys
