They used to use them years ago, before any one was using shad, them and bluegills was all some of them used. Put them out and see what happens.

I know the bass love them in briery creek up in Farmville. The guy I bass fish with said that the stripers liked them too so I am gonna try them this coming weekend.

Sounds like a good idea. Let us know how they work.
I believe that although stripers might prefer shad, when they are hungry they will eat any fish they can get in thier mouth.

Therez boys on claytor that use them only in the spring and fall. Ive personally used small suckers and caught fish. Caught stripers on bluegills while targeting flatheads.... if theyll eat a shiner then they will eat about anything

I have seen a lot of crawdads in the stomachs of stripers/hybrids that i have caught from Claytor.

In may and june you see alone alot of crawdads. But i never really hear of bassfishermen catching them on jigs. As they move deeper in the summer you dont see as many. I can only assume when they are shallow they gorge them. But uet spring and fall you dont see them in the stomachs

The last 2 fish I caught had crawdads back in june. One of them had a rock and an acorn in it stomach. I have no idea were the rock came from.

Im wondering if the rock got "sucked" up by accident when it was going for something else? Or do stripers swallow small rocks from time to time to help grind up food in thier stomach kink of like some birds do.
