I'm a big fan of the kite-fisher snell after Travis showed it to me - super easy to tie, the downside is you need access to both ends of the leader - so when you snag up and break off a hook you have to either tie a regular old knot or cut the leader at the swivel, re-snell and then re-tie. I ran across this one today - the use of the uni-knot as a snell on Octopus style hooks (bent eyes). Looks really easy to tie, and I'm a big uni-knot fan anyway as it is what I tie for every thing else other than my snells.... www.netknots.com/fishing_knots/snell-knot-uni-versionGoing to give this one a try soon enough....

How is this working for you? Does it really offer a straight hook set? It seems to me that one pressure point exists on the shaft versus pressure down the shaft. Other disadvantages I can think of are you have to cut it off and it's tough to tie compared to the kite fisher. Also.. I wonder if a quick kite fisher coupled with a cinch knot at the swivel would be quicker to tie than this?

Never have tied it - forget about it when on the water but seems pretty quick to tie.
