While I was having lunch, this fisher-bird moved in on my work site yesterday. (we've seen schools of big shad on the mud flats near here.)

Here are a few that I've managed to grab... For some reason, I've always felt like this should be in a Corona commercial. This one was taken the morning of the bad wind storm in the summer of 2012 also known as the "derecho"......the calm before the storm. I think someone asked for another moon? Well, here it is. This is actually a shot of the moon just before daybreak as I was making a run to the dam from Bull Run. I think this was around Memorial Day weekend of 2013. I got into em pretty good at the dam one of those mornings. It was just me and what I thought was a guide. He was in a skiff style boat that had navy blue sides. He had several people onboard. When I asked how many he had caught, he said that he had boated at least 30! I didn't catch nearly as many as he did, but I was by myself and I had more than I could handle! - Jeff

Here are some pictures of artificial reefs being placed in the water near the dam. We camped out at the dam for a week at a time and slept in jungle hammocks.

Where did they sink the tires? That was back in 1973-74 time frame and I think that picture was taken near Penhook. One of the Bass Clubs was involved were they planted Christmas trees and tires. Then you were assigned selected spots to fish which may or may not have included the locations of the artificial structures. Data was collected to determine the success of the artificial structures. Someone in one of the local Bass Clubs may know the locations of the reefs.

One of the guys I used to fish with had a map that was marked all over with places where the clubs had put stuff over the years, would have loved to made a copy of it but never got the chance.
