Yes....she boated 38 the other day. Love fishing with her! We have a blast at her house...always something fun going on. I'm at the end of Blackwater so have to take the Chapparral over there....my fishing barge would take me a looong time to get to her place past the bridge lol....having complete interior redone with new seats, carpet and new console. Can't wait to get it finished so I can get to fishin'. Haven't been at it in a while due to illness and major surgery. I think I can remember what to do hahaha!! Thanks!

Thank you very kindly........I live in Greensboro now and also hang at Lake Norman, Belews and High Rock but still have the SML place. We are there when we are not here lol. I fish mainly Blackwater since thats where I am and I know that area well fishing spots and such...if I go up to the Roanoke side I have to call Cathy or get sidetracked at Mangoes! I love night fishing the best so can't wait for my barge to be finished and electronics all hooked up so I can get on out there. I'm still fixin' striper out of the freezer from last year....caught a bunch off of my dock with dead live bait!! Love to cook it the old timey way over a big ole fire....we use a chimney pipe for an oven lol and put the taters in the coals......another good trick is "cooler corn" if you have lots to fix, throw ears in a cooler and pour boiling water over...close cooler and corn cooks itself right in there. I love to find new ways to fix fish as I don't want it fried all the time. Our neighbors eat together regularly so we come up with some good stuff......last week made crockpot macncheese out on the deck with grilled fish, corn, pot salad, watermelon and brownies for desert.....and of course, iced cold beverages from beer to Margaritas!

I just saw a recipe that said slice fish, soak in fridge in lime juice, etc etc, make some kind of summer salad. It never said "cook fish." Has anyone tried uncooked fish soaked in lime? It didn't specifically say striped bass.

Don't think I'd do that without freezing it first to kill all of the protozoa. Sure enjoyed Striper girl's recipes

I wouldn't eat it raw at all.....not safe and there are bacteria and the copepod issue would bother me.....of course I don't eat sushi either lol.....another good one is to mix mayo and Old Bay...spread on fillets and bake or grill. Also some soak in milk, then dip in egg...House of Autrie seafood breader or make your own with flour, s&p Soul Seasoning from the Dollar Store, Mrs. Dash and a tiny sprinkle of Italion seasoning. Some like Szeged Fish Rub. I use Pompeian OlivExtra Mediterranean Blend oil it has Canola, Ex Virgin olive and Grapeseed oil for heart health and ideal for salads, saute'ing and frying. It's not expensive either......Thanks!

I made that salad this afternoon. Good stuff. Didn't have relish so I cut up a couple dill pickles. And scallions. No one complained. Gonna try that jerky next.

It didn't specifically say striped bass. The lime juice actually serves to cook the fish and kill all bacteria. It's called ceviche and its the absolute best way to eat good tasting fish such as lake trout, snapper, walleye, etc. Striper? Absolutely..if you get rid of ALL red meat!

I remember this post from about 1 year ago and I never tried it...but I will soon. Probably a lot safer than the tuna in stores what with the Fukashima radiation incident.
I have heard about the pcb problems with stripers, but I'm convinced that as long as you get rid of the red meat and the lateral line you should be fine. Mercury is another matter...that absorbs directly into the flesh, but I haven't heard about a mercury contamination in SML. If anyone has I'd like to know...don't want to go mad as a hatter (probably have already though).

Mercury is definitely a problem in the Shenendoah River as a result of DuPont. To the best of my knowledge, I have never heard of any mercury contamination for SML.
However, everything is poisonous at some concentration including air and water. So I say..EAT what tastes good and die worry free.

The more I read the more it sounds like getting All the red meat off the fillet is important. Anyway, my cat loves it. Anyone know the effects of PCB on cats?
