If you aren't sure what depth the fish are holding, go with a mixture...don't forget the floats. Once you find them, go with what ever set up that best gets the bait to them.....all the fish aren't going to be holding at the same depth... shallow, deep, some both at times. Most folks use a mix to cover more area of water. Everyone who bait fishes has seen fish shoot up 30-40 feet on the graph to hit a bait... don't count on that for having a good day...best to get the bait to them. Come on now ray stripers shun sparkles....that's why the bass guys only catch them at night!!!!....by accident!!!!....while targeting green fish!!!! LOL !!!! .... Let a bass guy catch a few stripers at night...when the shad are spawning and it's easy...they always bragg about it in there report ....I've yet to hear a striper fisherman bragg about catching a green fish.... LOL!!!.....except maybe SuperStriper.

Joe's rule of rigging a fishing rod; "Whatever bait you rig on the end of your line, they will only be biting on something else."

Sunday it was downlines that got it done, today it was light lines. Run a mix - may w cut back to 3 planers or even just two and then have more light lines and still some downlines.

Or just go get more rigs 4 boards on each side ( mix free and light), 2 floats out the back, and 4 down lines.

Naw BigGun, I meant to catch it, Just didn't realize it was a striper. Didn't really mean to brag, Just thought I'd post what I caught, Don't no what is different about this year but seems to be more striper up shallow at night than in the past years, Maybe they done run all the bass off ?

Its always a good idea to keep a couple of rods with something to throw in case they start to break, plugs and a bucktails are always good choices to have ready.

No worries biggun, I'm bout half full of it half the time myself. I always mess with folks a bit. Laughter is good for the heart and I don't have ta tell what they say about them that can't take a joke. Ya know I recon we all got one thang in common, We all out there tryin to catch fish regardless of species and myself every time I set the hook I'm hoping for a monster. Hey probally gonna be up this weekend, gonna probably fish mid lake, Think between no and then yall could go get some of them stripers off the banks ?? LOL, Getting tired of them hard mouth suckas tearin up my plugs, Look at my thndr stks this evening and not one of them has more than half the paint left on it. Hooks bent or broke, look like I drug them to the lake behind the boat.

I have gotten a few over the years from the trees. Got pretty pretty good at throwin that plug knocker up there and getiin them back. I throw mine on 25 lb mono, usually I can get them back along with a few tree limbs. Keep forgetting my pruning saw.
