The seagulls are still where they were on January 3. I went out this morning. Fished from 6:30 - 7:30 AM using flukes, bucktails and a surface plug. No fish caught. No bites. But I saw lots of fish on fish finder 10 - 15 feet down and lots of gulls around picking up bait. Most of the gull action was right in the middle of the Roanoke River channel.
Water temp was 44 degrees. Very cloudy water. Some debris floating around but scattered pretty thin.

Thanks for the report, Im hoping to get out sunday. gulls diving or just being lazy?

Thanks for posting. There was a VERY defined mudline this AM between R30 and the bridge - birds looking hard just below the mudline but we did not see any fish there when we stopped for a few minutes to look.

I crossed the Hales Ford Bridge on way to church this morning. The cloudy water has moved downstream of the bridge now.
FYI, when I was out there fishing on 2/15, the gulls were picking up bait off the water all over that section of the lake from the bridge to R30 and beyond, but only early in the morning.

The gulls weren't as productive this year (for us) as in past years. I think they found plenty of bait fish for food ,but not so much to help with fishing as in past years.
I think surface bait was more available this winter than in past. Doesn't matter now, it's over - within the next few weeks - spring is here
