Spent last week at the lake with some long time friends and family and got our "dose" of fishing in. Fished mainly the lower lake in creeks and around the dam. We ventured a little ways up the roanoke side but I am determined to learn the lower lake. I broke down a few weeks ago and bought a super bait tank and man does it make a difference. We caught fish every day but it got better as the week went on. All of the fish were fat and healthy and ready for the spawn. All were released as well. We fished hard with 6 planer boards (2 inside boards with 1/8 ounce weight), 2 down lines and 1 free line. Caught medium - XL ales off my dock every morning although I think that tank would keep them alive and fresh forever. The stripers seemed to like the medium to large baits best. Not much action on the XL baits. I think we caught fish on every rod and line we had but caught most of them on the planers. We ended the week Saturday morning with a 37" - 22 lber that smoked a bankside planer. That is my personal best and it was a great way to end the week. Can't wait to get back up there soon. Thanks to everybody that contributes to this forum. It has definitely made me a better fisherman.
