Does vdgif release pure bred stripers? If their lines are broken that means there is hybrid dna correct?

Broken lines does not mean its a hybrid / hybrid strain.... Up until this year, VDGIF stocked only Roanoke strain stripers - brood stock acquired from the Roanoke river - typically acquired near Brookneal - so fish that are coming up out of Kerr/Buggs. This year they stocked with "Bay resident" strain - in an attempt to see if fish of a different lineage have any different growth-rate characteristics than the Roanoke strain that's been stocked - has been some discussion if the we're getting lower growth rates perhaps due to the genetic make-up of the stocked strain.

How long before the stocked Bay strain becomes a catchable size at SML? Three years or so possibly, or more?

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hybrid_striped_bassI believe this was my source of that opinion mward, i was under the understanding that stripers residing in salt water had the nice pretty straight stripes, while freshwater had the chance to mingle with those little white bass demons, creating they splotched looking stripes. Kinda like what happens when theres we virginians mingle with them neighbors to the north. Jkjk i love west virginia..Ohio on the other hand. Go Blue!
