I had every intention of trying my net and bait tank out. But once I got to the lake the wind was blowing pretty good. With me not having any experience with a 10 ft. net and the water white capping some, I decided I would wait for better weather. So my girlfriend and I dropped out a couple of U rigs and trolled. I thought with the bad weather that was coming into the area might turn the fish on, but not for us . After running to different areas we located some scattered fish and bait. Two hours later without even a sniff of a fish I decided to pull in the U rigs and put out some lead core with spoons. I thought by slowing down to 1.5 mph might get us hooked up. Well, we did hook up a short time later, wrong species though. It was a plump 7 lb. channel cat and my partner enjoyed bringing it in. We just could not manage a striper this trip. Before dark we went to the mouth of a creek and marked a good amount of fish. No action so I switched back to U rigs, and still got nothing. But on a good note the water level looked to be up about a foot and the water temp was around 72.5. We saw a ton of deer and a flock of turkey feeding up to get ready for the bad weather. I did enjoy being on the water, and maybe we will get um next time. I don't know about you guys but I have trouble catching fish when they are transitioning to their fall haunts.

Beats an evening at home watching TV.
Nice report - throwing the bar in gusting winds can be fun - one tip - don't throw INTO the wind.
