Water Temp - started in the morning in the low 70s rising to high 70s by lunch Weather - Clear Bait - Bait was tough - most came on a single throw about 11 pm. Attempts at 2 am, 3:45 and 5:45 yielded almost nothing. Technique - Down Lines with larger ales and a few small peanuts. I had a few money makers and a mongo that I released.
It was a beautiful morning to be on the lake. Clear skies and a bit of fog early, just enough to add another element of beauty to SML.
I had trouble finding fish early. About 7:30 I came across a small group of breaking fish. It was light but went on for about 10-15 minutes. I casted into them and with each of the first few casts had several follow my lure all the way back to the boat. I did catch two very small fish.
I moved into an unfamiliar spot in the lower portion of the lake and began marking a few fish. Dropped 4-5 downlines with a float out the back. Although fish we there, the action was slow to start. I managed 2 small fish within the first 30 minutes and then things turned on - FAST. Four four fish on at one time. I didn't have time to take a picture of the screen when the four lines went off but the screen was covered up. I ended up getting two of those four fish to the boat and ended up cutting the lines on the other two.
I boated 10 fish before I quit about 11:30. None of the fish were very large with the largest being maybe 5 pounds.
My activity died after about an hour but there were several other boats that came into the area and many of them continued to catch lots of fish, mostly on jigs. The largest I saw was a very nice 36 inch 14 pound fish.
Gonna hit it again tomorrow.
