Well..... PT looks like you are doing good to me. I made the leap into a SBT II Fri. I will have to learn the ropes myself. Wish me luck.

Nice report. Thanks for your advice on the bait. I was throwing a 8' 12 lb. worked a lot today with a 10' 15 lb. Going to give it a try tonight / tomorrow morning. Can't quite get it spread all the way. Wondering if I should stick to the 8' until I get the 10' down better. I'm catching a lot of bait at night. It's just small. Caught a carp and 3lb largemouth today whil practicing.

If I can figure out how to put the link in this thread I will. Also, if you can take a video of yourself throwing the net, the guys will definitely to help you. I've done that also. The guys are very helpful.

With everything I have read on the forum, if it all fails, bigun, mward, and gator have a stringer full of fish hidden somewhere. If I find any clues I will pass them on to ya. Good luck!

Caught a carp and 3lb largemouth today whil practicing. I have really been throwing hard every morning in my yard. I have to say that the shrimper method is by far the easiest method to get a consistent pancake. Once you work out the setup, it is three times as fast too. I totally recommend it for folks who are not married to their method. I'm at the point to where I pick up the net, grab it with my neck, split the net, drop it, pick it back up and throw... All in one fluid motion. And, you don't coil the rope, you just push it to the side with the loop tied to a cleat. Fast, wide open, and super easy on your body. Using my 20 pound net, I can throw a pancake on my first throw with a conventional technique. After that, my muscles get weak and my throws get progressively worse. With the shrimper method, I can now throw pancakes all day long...

Yes. I've noticed the more I throw the badder it gets. Plus I've come to realize you only have a limited number of throws on any given light before the bait is gone. I have a pretty good video of me throwing but have no idea how to post.

Throwing half open slop and being too slow. I'm bringing my A game this year!

I have a pretty good video of me throwing but have no idea how to post. Upload your video to photo bucket. Afterwards click on what looks like a chain which goes with your video. Copy the link to the right of your video, don't copy the link in your website browser. Then open the thread to create a post on the forum In the top of the post you will see several icons. Click on the video icon, and paste your link in the open window.

I'm sure we will see each other I'm still in a period of significant learning. My buddy Kurt is... Well might now be "was"... better than me. And my other fishing buddy along with Bentrod are the real masters along with Bert, Travis and Todd. Mward is real good too for an old guy! And then there are the old timers who put us all to shame! Throwing a net is truly a special thing... An art form of sorts.. Something I have come to love. I look forward to watching you grow.

With everything I have read on the forum, if it all fails, bigun, mward, and gator have a stringer full of fish hidden somewhere. If I find any clues I will pass them on to ya. primetime, I've put off posting this a few days, but I would be remiss if I didn't say ..... no one on here is any better fisherman than the other.... time spent on this lake does not make anyone of us a better fisherman .... it does make you more productive and consistent in your catch and is what folks see in the reports posted.... which can be a bit deceiving....and make folks who are new to the lake and/or striper fishing pull their hair out and second guess everthing they do and try...... we all have to get out and look for fish...SML is a big lake and can be a bit overwhelming ..... time on the water narrows where to look, and makes it seem like some are better fisherman than others... which is definetly not the case.... what makes this site so unique and appealing to others is the fact that everyone goes above and beyond trying to help others catch fish.... asking only in return, that they be respectful to the fishery, participate on the site and share what they have learned to help others....... all you new guys will be out fishing everyone else before you know it....

In my post I was having fun and just trying to be like one of the guys. I really don't understand all the post about the stringer. It does take time on the lake to learn about the fishery. I admit, I'll ask a question before I experiment myself due to laziness. I can promise that I respect the fishery due to this group and everyone's kindness to me. Before joining the group, I would have kept most stripers I caught. Now I will release the small and large stripers I catch. That is do to you guys teaching me. I hope I wasn't offensive to anyone about the stringer comment. Please forgive me if it was. I value friendships. Thanks for allowing me to be part of the forum.
