How many others hate besides me when a wake board boat comes by at 8am close enough to slap the driver almost!!! I had one making constant laps on Saturday morning. I usually have enough self control to not say anything and let idiots be idiots, but when my boat is getting swamped and water is coming over the bow and gunwales, I have had enough. By the time I reeled in and wanted to say something the !&$@";: picked up his boarder and moved on. I don't know if this is a rant or a post but I needed to vent somewhere. I know they and jet skis have as much right to the lake as we do, but common courtesy should be shown in my opinion. i try to slow if it is safe for me to do so if I see some one fishing. Especially if a kids fishing with his dad! Sorry for the rant again but needed to vent.

Right on Brother! Seems like we used to get the lake till 10am - now they are out earlier and earlier.... jet-skis and ski-boats are one thing - but these wake boats with the internal ballast used for folks to surf behind the boat throw an insane wake that carries on for a long ways - beyond the hassle they cause us I wonder the amount of property damage to docks and erosion they cause... But like you say - lots of lake and they can't drive the other side? Time to keep a surfcasting rod with a big heavy plug at the ready

Surf casting rod is a good idea but like a paintball gun better. That way you can "mark" them is idiots.

It know for a fact that the banks are taking a beating from these dumb a&& things. I watched the bank as the whitecap swells went by me drop the Franklin county red clay into the water with each wake that went by. I wish that a nice DGIF officer was around when this was all going on. Not a very safe thing to do to other fisherman or boaters alike. I have a nitro z7 sport fish and ski, but it doesn't put out any kind of wake that these things do. If any of you see me out on the water with my blue and silver nitro and I cause any kind of un needed wake while you are fishing...feel free to ease up to me and slap me out of my chair and move on.

Had one cut between SeaJay and me a few weeks back. They could have went north of us by hundreds of yards. Did they. Heck no. Funny part was I heard her tell her passengers that she," really hated interrupting us". Really ?That's okay......FALL IS COMING!!!

It is really bad right now with the lake so low. Lower than it has been in a year. It is below the riprap in many places and the erosion is pretty bad in those places. But the wakeboard and wake surf folk could give a $&!?.

Gator, I think that I saw you and sea jay out that day and witnessed that episode. I was in the other side of that particular creek trolling the creek channel. Heck I have a hard enough time catching fish without these d/?!&heads causing ocean swell size wakes.

Weekend warriors with there bass boat, ran between our boards and our boat sat. No more than ten feet from the boat. Full Speed, In support of our reserve military(real weekend warriors) use another term for the crazy sobs please. Btw since our military is being demolished by this administration those real weekend warriors become much more important in this nations future.

I try to be respectful to everyone on the lake. It's really all about safety and I know I have done some bone headed things. Heck, it was months before my wife would get on the boat with me after one of my episodes with a wake boat. Don't think you are going to get away with putting me or my family in danger or I can show you a side of me that nobody likes. But that's not why I use the lake. I use the lake for the exact opposite reasons. I rather wave to someone than....

But we learn from them and move on and take a lesson learned to not do it again.

full disclosure here...I have a wake boat...a 23' Malibu. I love it. We've had countless good family times teaching the 4 kids and their friends to wakeboard...and to wake surf. Now it's also true that I'm a fisherman...and just as quick as you guys to curse the SOB's that either don't have a clue or worse don't care. As with so many things related to others that infuriate us, most of this is pure ignorance. The knuckleheads you see 50' off shore creating a 6' swell have absolutely no idea what they're doing to the shore, other boaters....totally clueless. I think I remember the content of my Boater Course well enough to say there was no mention of the general impact of wake boats...not a word. I may be wrong, but it surely wasn't an emphasized point...and thats flat crazy. I would suggest they're some of the most powerful machines on the water...mine's 354HP!!...they can exceed 50MPH, turn on a dime...and they're quickly becoming the vessel of choice for every family that buys a house and wants to become boaters....off they go with the best of intentions...and wreak unknown havoc. Every boating class should have an extended education on what these boats do to the surrounding water. I guess my point is I drive a wakeboard boat and can guarantee I'm rarely cursed...notice I didn't say never....Bigun and Gator may be out there sometimes...cranky, cranky, cranky.....
Wakeboarding ( and DEFINITELY wake surfing) should be restricted to main channels and/or large coves...a few signs would help. Make the no wake law 100' instead of 50' and that would solve a big portion of the problem.
My point is there is a happy medium...we just need to find it. A quiet, friendly explanation of what just happened to you when their monster wake went by would surely do a lot more then casting a big plug at their heads....
I bet this will be popular post!!
