Continued ..... Bass fisherman. However, that has been very slow for me this summer since the w/t got above 82. Fished for bass the first few days with not a lot of luck. Caught 4 or 5 small ones.
Tuesday I decided to go all in for jigging stripers. Basically went on a boat ride all morning. Started marking scattered fish and put the trolling motor down and almost immediately hooked up with an uncontrollable fish on my light tackle. Fish was literally dragging my boat around until he took me into a tree.
Wednesday. Caught one around a hump I was marking scattered fish. 7.5 got him in quick and released quick. Seemed to be good to go. Cruised around and found a massive school. Got a few bumps / hits and hooked up. Feisty 8 quickly released. School was gone before I got set up again. Moved across the channel found another good school. Hooked up immediately, 7lb again quickly released. Seemed to do swim off with gusto. Talked my wife and 10 year old son to go out that evening. Got on a nice school right across from our house. My son immediately hooked up all on his own. We were able to follow the school for about two hours. He caught 7 or 8 vs 2 or three for me. He had a blast. He asked me if I was mad that he out fished me. I told him I enjoy watching him catch fish more than I like catching em.
Thursday morning. Long boat ride. Didn't even put down the trolling motor. Had company come that afternoon until Saturday morning.
Saturday night got my wife and son to come back out. Got right back on the fish where we had found them a few nights ago. More scattered but decided to fish it. Son got hooked up right away. I got two or three and gave him my next. Only stayed on em for about an hour. Went on a hunt. Drove around for about an hour. Starting to get dark. Found a school right on the bottom in about 30 feet of water off an island. Couldn't get a bite. Not sure if they were striper or carp maybe??? Anyway a school started breaking shallow right up on the island. Got on the big motor, got up to them. Cast out immediately hooked up. Gave the rod to my son while I tried to get another hooked up.

Continued..... Looked back and the fish I had given him was peeling off line like I had never seen. Put the other rod up to pay attention. Had almost spooled him. All he could do was hold on to the rod much less reel. I was worried about the fish so I coaxed him to letting me fight it. I was able to put the heat to it and get it in 16lb. We were all really worried about it but released it very quickly torpedo style. It was a nice fish, especially on light tackle. Really do hope he made it. Should have left the trip with that.
Sunday: went out again. Boat ride. Only put down the motor once, basically out of desperation. Had a hard time finding fish in the morning all week. Seemed to be easier in the evening.
Anyway sorry for the long post but pretty fun week of fishing with my family.

I have a nautic star boat getting ready to be delivered. My sb2 40 gallon is hopefully coming shortly thereafter. I've been catching a some bait at my light.
If all goes well my bass boat and all tackle may be on eBay.
I love to bass fish but we truly have a wold class fish right in our back yard.

Its the 2110 sport. It's 21 ft. They had it in stock at Smith Mountain Yacht Club, had to order the electronics, trolling motor, and T top. Still waiting on the T top. Hopefully the SBT II will be here sometime October.

Nice - you'll enjoy that boat - guess you'll be putting the tank up in front of the front-console seat?
They may all already be spoken for, but Dewayne @ Captain's Quarters had a load of SBT-II's coming in on Friday/Saturday I think.... He also had a "vintage" SBT with no filter and mechanical aerator (pump about lid with paddle wheel in the water), in the shop for sale.

JBR...I bought the 21 bay from sml yacht club ....not the sport though Be careful on your ttop. The style they wanted to put on anchored to the floor of the boat and took up a lot if the pass through space between the console And the sidewall. It also blocked out the 6 rod holders on the console. I had them make a custom ttop which remedied those issues. Lee Arnold helped with that. He was great. Also be thoughtfull about your seat choice. I think the sport deck layout will prevent you from putting a bait tank in front due to the step to the bow platform. Be sure you choose a captains seat that leaves you room either under iir or behind. Last suggestion....make sure you get a bow post or seat...I have the foot controls to bass fish but quickly learned you can't use it just standing up....you need the lean post or chair. Hope this helps! GREAT boat!!!!

Just watched the vid...looks like they eliminated the step to the bow.....a 35ga sbt will fit perfect in front.... You're gonna love your new boat

On the t-top blocking the rod holders..... that's an issue with any t-top and console mounted rod holders. I'm able to still use mine - the rods just have to bend out a bit to the side of the t-top - but works. You can also get these grommet things that go in the t-top canvas which give a hole for the rod top to protrude through the top and have plugs to close them when not in use - or I've seen a flap cut int the canvas with velcro to close it when not needed. Mounting the t-top to the console can free -up floor-room - but just make sure the mfg has engineered the t-top to be mounted that way - and that sufficient backing is used As with all boats - everything is a compromise..... but it's definitely good to pick the brains of those who have similar boats on what they would do different the next time

the problem wasn't the fabric on the top roof...it was the aluminum tube running across where the rod butts went it....they were blocked out. I wouldn't be surprised if Lee has spec'd in the top we designed...it wasn't more $....for the top we just opened up 3 holes in the canvas with a flap to lay over them. If I was doing it again I would eliminate the flap. Rain doesn't come through the holes very much and the flap gets in the way when your quickly stowing rods.
