Prime all these guys will tell you that throwing a net only becomes easy after you have thrown it a couple hundred times. If you keep learning everytime you throw it. Every method you see on the net, and there are hundreds, work. Just pick one and stick with it until you get it down. As I have got older I have changed up somewhat but I I still use the Calusa, net in mouth throw. Simply because it to me is easier and takes little effort.
Forget all those other YouTube videos.... this one captures all you need to know about throwing a castnet
No, that is the one arm method. That method takes a beast of a man to throw a heavy 10 foot net. Its a great method though.
I found a video on the method I use now.
I tried your method above in the video. I really like it compared to what I have been doing..
I think you are halfway there. You are getting half the net to open fully. To get the other half, try this.
Make the two piles as even as you can.
Make the distance between your two arms just a bit wider than shoulder length keeping the lead line between your two hands fairly tight.
Point your right toes in the exact direction you are throwing.
The rest of your body including left foot should be 90 degrees to the left of your right foot.
Hold your net out in front of you as far as you can and lock your arms.
Swing back as far as you can to your left with your arms locked.
Swing right and throw the net where you intended with a slight upward motion.
Let go of the lead line at the same time with both hands. The exact time to let go is a feel thing. I like to think my two hands are almost laying out a quilt on a bed.
Try different speeds and note that often times, a slower speed with a fluid motion will get the best results.
I am very grateful for you guys tutoring me. I will practice, practice, and practice and post another video to be critiqued. Again, thanks. I really like this technique. It seems easier and drier.

primetime - try a bit more of a rotation in your throw - I use the "in the teeth" method, but I've found 2 things, and I expect it translates across the techniques..... get the arm that has the majority of the net loaded up as much as you can (and yes, your shoulder will bark at you later after throwing a heavy net a number of times), and get more rotation - I throw with most of the net loaded in my left hand and then throw towards the right - so I rotate back a bit counter-clockwise and then uncoil in a clock-wise manner. If you're loading the net in your right hand, then it would be the opposite.
Checking to see what you or anyone else thinks about my throw. Im working on it getting ready for the fall. Harley

Looks good enough to catch bait. You don't have to throw from your boat. I practice on flat ground. Just my 2 cents.
thanks for your 2 cents worth, I will take 1 cent, any help is very grateful. Im practicing from my boat because I will be throwing to catch dollar bills from my boat in the fall, practice. Harley

I think it makes sense to throw from your boat. I mean, how many people do you see throwing from the ground on SML. When I practice handing out dollar bills I don't do it from the yard!!
castnets have a tendency to "find" something to hang on.
