Had the opportunity to take someone out for their first striper fishing on Sunday a.m. and we hit the water about 6:30 a.m. with AT already at hot and the WT was close to boiling (82.6). I always explain to my guests that I will be off of the water by 10 a.m. or sooner in the Summer and that it will not be a "numbers" day. Since I launch at the Penhook ramp we started fishing u-rigs at the mouth of little bull (where mward has that stringer). Spent a good 45/60 minutes and nothing showed up on a hook or the sonar so I decided it was time to change the view. Went up lake towards--well you know--. Turned out to be a good move, ended up with 6 fish... of which 3 were harvested and 3 were really small and were promptly torpedoed to the striper stomping grounds. My guest was treated to a sack full of fresh striper filets and even invited himself to go fishing again. I think he liked it.
