My best girl and I did a short trip Sunday morning. Mainly to get use to a different boat and work the bugs out. We fished about three hours in the process. Weather was cool and windy. The water temp. was around 75 degrees. The water level looked to be up a foot or so and clear. We pulled artificial lures with a little success. The action we had came from creek mouths off the mid Roanoke arm. We caught nothing of any size.... 2 striper 1 @ 25" , 1 @ 22" , a fat LMB @ 21" and lost another. Better than a goose egg though.

Water was 75? in the main lake?? Just VERY surprised after the very hot week last week and temps that had been in the 80's...... Definitely better than a goose-egg...... thanks for posting!

I am most likely wrong on the water temp. sorry. Going from 13 year old black and white Lowrance to newer multi color Hummingbird with a lots more features had me dizzy . Yeah, that's my excuse along a with short memory.

I was sure wishign it was 75...... is it October yet? ?? Please don't wish these long days away. Guys who earn a living outdoors need them. This is like Black Friday is to retailers.

I thought we had discovered why the Roanoke has all the fish. It's 10 degrees cooler then the Blackwater.

Lund, I thought if I could get everyone to fish on the Roanoke arm I could try out (The Dark Side) all alone. Ha Ha.... Just kidding.

Lund, I thought if I could get everyone to fish on the Roanoke arm I could try out (The Dark Side) all alone. Ha Ha.... Just kidding. You have a lot of work to do. I mean heck, I'm not even allowed on the Roanoke side. First you'll have to convince mward and bigun to issue my toll exemption and don't even get me started on that Yam guy. Then you'll have to convince me that the 9 fish on the BW aren't worth it anymore. Lund and I have been catching those same 9 fish for a while now. Btw, the water is much nicer and cooler on the R side. Especially for striper fishing. Besides, I sold my boat and bought a jet ski. LOL

Lund and I can share the 9 fish since you sold your boat and bought a JET SKI! Be careful riding that thing around Striperjohn. He is accurate and deadly casting those striper swipers. LOL

I was wondering how I could be off on the temp reading. So I broke out the manual on the new to me sonar. Come to find out it has a depth and temp off set control . Both can be adjusted on a -10 --- 0.0--- +10 scale. I understand that the depth control is needed for the transducer to be mounted at various depths .... trolling motor/ transom. The temp off set control which was adjusted to - 5 degrees below the zero setting. Why I don't know. So my memory isn't as bad as I thought. LOL Can anyone tell me what the purpose of the temp off set control ?
