Wow what a day it was! I awoke at 3 am and loaded the tank with ales and big gizz. I then headed south to a new spot I keep looking at and passing. I had it all to myself. Quiet...peaceful..beautiful day!
The action started about 7am. I was catching em on ales, money makers, jumbo nuts, and my spoon. The surface action was scattered but you could watch a single fish working a bait for long periods. I'm talking a minute or two. If I was close, I just heaved my spoon into the mix and hooked up a couple times.
I caught an assortment of fish from a 4.5 pound LM, to a couple of smallies and most importantly, a boatload of stripers (biggest 26 inch).
And now I sit in this hotel room with my adrenaline even more stoked up as I just watched this guy and his gang work over my bait for a good 10 minutes!
He and his buddies just kept poking at it and poking until finally the stinger came undone. I mean it looks to me like they look right at the stinger and attack it.
They look pissed! And then as soon as the stinger was free, one came in and nailed the camera! KAPOW! Or should I saw...PAPOW!
I have to stop!! My heart is about to explode!
In summary, the morning was fantastic. I have so much video and so little time!
So then I went out and did some throwing for bait I did not need! The shrimper method rocks! It has made me one with my boat. Shake out the net...step down and sit on the bait tank..watch my sonar, jump up on the deck and fling like a madman! Haul in the poor bait. Throw it back...wash down area..REPEAT! I don't even coil the rope.
Then it was time to fish again. This time I went into the Gator Zone! And let me tell you...that water is CLEAR!
Aquarium!
And look who came in to pose for the camera!
Too bad he was hungry! Cause he ate the wrong BAIT!
And I like the taste of largemouth!! Muuuhuuuha!!
Along with this beauty, I caught my longest striper of this trip at 27 inches...yet it only weighed 7 pounds!
Then the weather looked scary and I headed back north and fished an area between two storms. Had a few hits...but didn't get no more.
Sigh....time to get another 2 hours of sleep.....
