No need for SpotLock. Fish move to much - just pull slow with downlines and maybe some lightlines.
Gander won't have the boards you want/need. Those Yellowbird or Offshore plastic ones are no good for the slow pulling you need to do with live bait. Check out the Rock Creek boards from TommyFishes here on the board or the Outcast, Rednecks or ones Kenny Short is making. Should be able to find something at Franklin Outdoors or BayRoc Marina.
I'd honestly say wait on boards till you can get some of the above and go with downlines for now..... Fish are schooling up deeper now anyway.

Green... Stay away from planers right now unless you get big bait. And you won't unless someone gives it to you.
Mward is right, just go real slow with down lines. Try to keep them as vertical as possible and move around a point for awhile.

Oh yea.. To determine depth, just simply grab the line from the end of the rod and pull it out an arms length. Each arms length is about 3 feet. Drop em down to 30 or so but experiment with depths. When you see fish on your screen, make sure your depth is above the majority.
I want you to catch fish with your kids!
