We arrived on Wednesday afternoon and the wind was blowing and gusting to 25 or 30 -- wind was starting to be a little more manageable on Saturday around 10 to 15 but then it was time to go home-- overall we had a great trip and caught some wonderful fish.
12/10
Weather - Blowing Hard -- 15 -- gust to 25
Water - 46 to 49
Techniques - No bait yet
Time - 3 to 6pm
Goal for the afternoon find bait and Try to fish -- checked a few creeks all big bait way down and small bait would of been no problem. around 515pm bait moved up to 10 to 15 feet in 40 feet of water good schools -- knocked out 40 baits in no time. Headed back to put our bait to sleep for the night.
12/11
Weather - first Hour of daylight manageable 5 to 10 and around 8am -- rest of day BLOW me away -- 10 to 15 with gusts to 30
Water - 47
Techniques - Gizzards 13 to 7 -- one peanut for fun hanging in the back with split shot
Time - 630am to 7pm -- includes bait for next day 515 to 7pm
Worked one cliffside 2 baits and had a wonderful morning 9 fish total from 630 to 8am -- 30 inches to 36 -- with some line rippers into brush piles and trees -- using Lake anna set-up 15lb big game and 12lb flouro -- a little lite for here but it is all I have. did not see one boat on the water -- only the crazy tourists who came to fish are out there in those conditions - (I feel like Striped Yam)
Caught 3 fish in the evening -- one under 26 for dinner.
12/12
Weather - 10 to 15 gusts 25 -- Blowing from the begining of the morning and ended with slick calm around 415pm --
Water - 45 to 47
Techniques - Gizzards 13 to 7 -- one peanut for fun hanging in the back with split shot
Time - 630am to 7pm -- includes bait for next day 415 to 6pm
This day wind was so bad hard to pull did not catch first fish until 1030-- tried to find some relief, went some where I would never fish this time of year and pulled a 34 inch 18lb out of the area -- always learning something new. wind blew us to lunch inside. Again only boat on the water ---- until 3pm when we a few boats came around.
Back out -- caught 2 more then the lake laid down and was awesome BUT for the first time I used all my battery up and had no power to fish ---- caught bait with the big motor and headed back.
12/13
Weather - clear and beautiful and wind picked up to 10 around 8am
Water - 45 to 46
Techniques - Gizzards 13 to 7 -- one peanut for fun hanging in the back with split shot (never had a hook up on the peanut the entire trip)
Time - 615am to 12 -- have to go home
Had many hook ups and lost 2 big ones I think -- but 2 under 26 in the boat for wife to cook up -- caught 3 from 28 to 33 -- Had many line malfunctions and leaders breaking my light tackle had gotten worn out and probably should of reset a few of the rods after so many wonderful fish.
Met a nice pair of fisherman in a beautiful Hurricane(boat) Friday night getting bait -- Hope you caught some big ones on Saturday -- Nice to have met you Bruce.
Had a great trip again even with the wind -- Thank you SML!!!!!
