I looking at building a new tank and wondering what others think on location of the filter. Tank will be about 20 gallons. Which seems to work the best on a filter system. Filter in the suction side of the pump or the filter on the discharge side of the pump. I am leaning to the suction side as it should be better for the pump to pull than to force the water as the filter clogs up.
If you can, use the Super Tank set up, it seems to be the best way to keep bait for the way we fish. I have not seen a better set up than that anywhere. You can buy the filter basket and scale basket from ST seperate.

The tank I am building has a strainer on the suction side for the larger stuff and then a filter on the pressure side. Now all I am waiting for is a large section of thick lexan to make the lid which my father in law should be bringing this weekend ;D
