Hi all-- Thinking of making the trip from Raleigh this weekend and was hoping for a little advice. Our range is pretty limited in the yaks, so we need to launch pretty close to where the fish might be. We can get a mile or three from our launch point to the fishing grounds, but much further than that and it becomes hard to justify all the time paddling before we start fishing. So is anyone willing to share any recommendations on a good place to launch where there may be stripers close by? I have only been on the lake a few times and haven't had a chance to figure out striper patterns or get real familiar with the lake. Thanks

Moormans ramp - will have bait and stripers nearby.

+1. Moormans puts you in the sweet spot this time of year. You can put in at Hardy too, the fish are that far up river. Either way, you won't have to paddle far to find fish. What will you be using - bait or artificial? Either way, I would recommend making good use of your paddle time by dragging something behind you.
Good luck, let us know how you do.
