There are a number of Universal Laws that when it comes to Striper Fishing (and perhaps fishing overall) 1) You can't catch them if you don't go.... 2) When the fishing is slow, break out the drinks & snacks.... 3) Leave the rod in the rod holder if you want the fish to bite....

I can add a few others:
4) When you have a fish on, leave the Go Pro off. Turning it on will result in immediate loss of fish.
5) If you have a fish on and think about how good it will taste for dinner, you will never land the fish.
6) There is an inverse relationship between the amount of equipment designed to support the successful landing a fish and the amount of time it will be required.
7) Talking about the weather always makes the weather worse.
8) Talking about how great the fishing is going to be results in miserable trips in the future
9) Bringing a banana on the boat is asking for trouble.
To be clear, these are not superstitions, these are facts based on empirical evidence.
