Veteran's Day, a HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL VETERANS serving or have served our country for the freedoms we enjoy today! Thank you and God Bless!
I used the day off to support my son at his school's Veterans Day program. That was over at lunch and I needed to pick him up by 3:30....just enough time to tangle with a few linesides.
10 minutes from his school I was at the boat, dropping it in the water and heading out. I was hoping for a quick bait search, turned into about 30 minutes.....ouch! Got about a dozen and headed to the fishing ground.
Technique - BIG shad on boards on the bank Water - 58 and clear Weather - beautiful, 65 degrees, light SW wind. Amazing!
Put the boards out and the action was hot and heavy for the next hour and a half. I ended up boating 4 fish, had 3 other fish hooked that came unhooked during the fight and missed several others. I caught my final fish on my last bait at 2:40 and made the fast dash back to the boat slip to cover the boat and pick Clayton up from school. I really think if I had some help on the boat, some of the fish that came unhooked would have been landed. On two occasions, I was fighting a fish and another bait got hit and I tried the one hand hook set.....tough problems to have.
I hope it lasts, but the cold weather on the way may shut it down.....
