Bait - Had about a dozen ales leftover from Sunday. Sunday night was about the same as Saturday. One throw yielded about 18 nice ales but never caught another, even after waiting about an hour.
Water Temperature - 67 degrees
Weather - Overcast skies with a heavy mist all morning.
Techniques - Combination of planers, light lines, downlines and a redi-rig float
I got a late start with a little boat maintenance. Started about 8 am and fished until 1:45 pm as I had to do some lawn maintenance at the lake house before heading back to Forest this evening. Stopped in at one of the shops and a nice gentleman told me things had been pretty hot up as far as Lynville. I stopped to check out several other creeks along the way. I was on fish right away but just like Sunday I couldn't get any takers. Just inside the mouth of one of the creeks I began to hear the clicker on one of my reels. As I looked around I didn't see anything happening. After a few seconds I recognized it was a rod I had stuck in a holder on the T-Top trailing the boat by 60-70 feet with a redi-rig float. I grabbed the rod and I thought I had something relatively small. About 40 feet from the boat it turned and started burning the drag. It took all of about 5 seconds and whatever it was snapped the line somewhere above the swivel. After getting halfway back into the creek there were no more fish so I turned hoping I would see them on the way back out. No luck but I did find my redi-rig float on my way out of the creek.
For the next hour or so I just scouted around all the way up to the trestle. I could not find any fish anywhere. I did come across a group of 5-6 boats above Moormans and I expected to get into a few before having to call it a day. I still couldn't find any fish. I did speak with a couple of boats fishing with that group only to hear that no one had caught much. They had seen three small fish boated all morning.
Skunked again.
