I just read Charlie Taylor's Oct. 3 striper fishing report in which he states:
"Striper fishing is tough throughout the lake. Most of the guides are getting 1-5 small fish per day. No good reason for the turnoff, although lots of theories are being advanced. Plenty of good fish are being marked at 45-50 feet, but they appear uncatchable. Best time is late evenings and early mornings."
This report makes me feel better because I've been having a deuce of a time catching stripers lately. If Charlie's report is correct and I'm not the only guy having trouble catching stripers lately, I would like to hear some of the theories Charlie alluded to in his report.
Personally, I think the turbidity of the water is playing a factor. Just a wild guess though.

I'm not sure how up to date/accurate his reports are. Ive noticed that some of his reports are word for word the same as ones he posted the previous year.

I too have been having a real hard time with striper fishing. They seem to get lockjaw when I find them.

Didn't know him, and did a search, seems like he is a writer down on Gaston and Kerr lakes, so I guess he is talking about them more so than SML. Still with the warer temps gong down will change the bite, only going to get better.
