On the water early Saturday morning and my intentions were to do some jigging. Found a small school at BR1 and quickly hooked up with 2 small fish and lost the school. Motored around for an hour or so with no luck. Decided to head to the Roanoke arm for a little more action. Found another small school around R17 but no takers and I decided to head up lake a bit more and my motor started to act up. Not one for being stranded on the water so I decided to pull the plug and head back to the ramp. Had fouled plugs and it took forever to get back to the Penhook ramp but I did make it. It is what it is right? Don't get worked up over the small stuff. Just fix it and move on.
This is were it gets ugly. Went and bought new plugs for the motor and stopped at Applebees for a little lunch before I went home to change the plugs. Parked in the field behind Applebees and went in and ate. Got home and changed the plugs and noticed that my rods were GONE. 2 Calcutta 200's on custom G-Loomis and Star rods, 1 Calcutta 100 on a Duckett rod and a 6500LC on a Ugly Stik Striper rod. I am certain that it happened when I was eating lunch. My custom rods all have my name on them but that really doesn't mean much to a thief!! I made it through this entire paragraph without using one single MFer or SOB or......

Oh boy....how low does a man go when he crawls into another mans boat and skulks off with his tackle.....there's something particularly disgraceful about that....maybe it's the brotherhood of fishing/hunting/honest work being compromised and violated by some poor excuse for a man. Gator - you're a gentleman. I have a boat house full of good ( ok....decent) gear and tackle that you can borrow for as long as you need to. I'm pretty sure ypu have my cell. Text me and I'll set you up as best I can. Lord knows my gear has been waiting for somebody to show up and use it properly. Speaking of The Lord....he will have his say....always does.

That really really really sucks! I hope you can find the strength to pursue this dickweed the best you can. The cameras seem like a great start.

Seem it's everywhere - a buddy of Tyler's had his boat hit twice in the last month or two at a local marina - first time for batteries and the next for some rods. Sad.

Lund, I really appreciate the offer. I guess I am fortunate enough to have enough tackle to rig 2 or 3 boats. As far as getting it back goes, I have absolutely 0 confidence in the local law enforcement and I will leave it at that. As for the thief or thieves that felt like they needed my stuff. Maybe they needed it more than I did. If anyone knows me they know that I would give you the shirt off of my back.
Bigun you are right too. Got hit 5 years ago for close to 30K at my home. They were eventually caught and they WALKED. Thanks to our wonderful justice system.

Y'all have been had! I know this ruse! My fishing gear is getting a little old, a little less shiny, but the wife doesnt understand the desire, no, the NEED to upgrade. So. . . A strategically positioned boat in a less desireable part of town and viola!! Suddenly there is no question about the need for shiny new reels, matching rods, and all sorts of new cool goodies!!
Gator, all teasing aside, I hate to hear this. I often take the boys to the DQ at the end of Gus Nicks on the way home. I always worry about someone swinging by the boat and swiping my rods. Over time, I've gotten less worried about it. I think I will worry a bit more again and hopefully save myself some heart ache.
