Hey all -
Saw a couple boats that looked suspiciously familiar out there as I drove by last night, one in the process of pulling in a little striper when I passed the house with the tennis court on the Roanoke side (just down lake from Mormans).
Been flyfishing the banks looking for Bass and Striper with decen success all month. The bait weren't schooling earlier in August, and the bank fishing seemed to be better. The more prevalent the bait schools have gotten, the less productive the bank has been. Think I may need to start targeting the larger schools out in the middle, maybe.
For anyone else who has a massochistic bent and likes to make difficult things completely impossible (I'm talking to you fly fishing guys, of course), I've been having the best luck using a 9wt with a sink tip line and a white "Game changer" fly. If you can keep the War Mouths off of it long enough and there is a bass or striper around, you'd better hold on and hope your knot is gonna hold.

BTW - water conditions were actually better on Sunday than they were on Wednesday night. That mud had moved a lot further down lake following the rain.

We were out in the morning and didn't do any good. I saw several boats around the s curves but didn't see anyone land anything. Need cooler weather and rain to kick start the stripers again.
